Hey, do the Soundcheck!

Going on camp means having fun. Singing, laughing and playing are all part of it, but it is not necessary to play amplified music all the time.

We need to manage sound in a conscious, responsible and smart way, and it’s simple. Do the Soundcheck.

Soundcheck not only makes a big difference for a great atmosphere on your camp, but also for the future of youth accommodations. This way, we make sure together that there will still be places to go for weekends and camps in the future.

Win an ice cream cart at camp.

Let everyone know that you’re going to rock it at camp this summer, but that your speakers won’t be on all the time.

Do it with a Soundcheck video from your group.

Practical tips you can apply right away:

  • Check the agreements about sound. Discuss them with your group.

  • On arrival, go over the rules with the site manager.

  • For every activity, ask yourself if amplified sound is really needed.

  • Limit the duration of amplified music. Do not keep your speakers on all day.

  • Do not point your speakers towards neighbours and pay attention to sound reflecting off walls.

  • Keep windows and doors closed when playing sound indoors.

  • Do a short sound check outside regularly. How does it sound there?

  • Speak up when it gets too loud.

All together!

Site managers are also getting started with Soundcheck. From this summer onwards, you will find clear agreements and practical tools in many youth accommodations and campsites to help you manage sound in a smart way.
